Hello, and thanks for taking the time to get to know me! I am a Licensed Psychologist, and more importantly, an eternal student seeking depth beyond the limited and often pathologizing model of traditional western psychology.
I believe in the inherent goodness of people. I believe every person has an inner healing intelligence, a knowing of what you need to thrive and feel connected to the wholeness of yourself, others, and the world. Many of us have lost connection with this intrinsic wisdom as a result of the stressors of our modern world, which include systems of oppression and experiences of trauma (experiences that exceed one’s ability to cope). Often, we begin mistaking our reaction to these experiences as our true selves. I find that the pain of this experience is often what leads people to seek therapy. I’m glad you’re here now.
I consider my role as a collaborator in a healing process that follows your inner wisdom toward wholeness. I believe that what we have been taught to call mental illness is often actually an expected reaction to living within systems and situations that do not meet our needs, and that listening and learning from the parts of our experience that hold pain is essential. I find that healing involves practicing self-compassion, fostering a mindful relationship with “symptoms” and emotions as informers and allies, making changes to patterns of thought and behavior that do not serve you, developing strategies and skills to relieve suffering, and ultimately: finding, understanding, and appreciating the presence and wholeness of your true self.
A bit about me personally: I am from Portland and feel at my most whole breathing misty forest air, riding my bike, listening to audiobooks, and spending time with friends and family. I am fascinated by the role non-ordinary states of consciousness (via psychedelics, breathwork, meditation, etc.) can play in growth and healing, and am continuing my education to learn how to support people in integration of these experiences. I am a mother to two young children who daily teach me new things about being human.
Say not, “I have found the truth,” but rather, “I have found a truth.”
Say not, "I have found the path of the soul.” Say rather, “I have met the soul walking upon my path.”
For the soul walks upon all paths.
The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.
The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.
