Tending the Tree of the Soul

A 6-week workshop for women ages 27-37 to develop holistic inner wisdom and power.

Thursdays | April 23 – June 4

6:15-7:45pm

5525 E Burnside St., Portland Oregon

If we surrendered to earth’s intelligence, we could rise up rooted, like trees.

Rainer Maria Rilke

A well-tended tree yields the fullest expression of its nature, and ensures the spark of its potential is carried forward.

We will focus on deepening your roots and building the stability needed for your vital energy to flow freely. By nourishing yourself first, you’ll gain a clearer sense of your essential purpose, unfold into your own space, and find flow within the collective web of life.

Are you ready to strengthen your foundation alongside an intimate community of 7-9 like-hearted women? Read on to learn more, and be in touch to schedule a consultation.

  • Over the course of six weeks, we will use the anatomy of the Tree as a map for our own internal landscape. This isn't a "self-improvement" course, but a communal practice of coming home to yourself. Our path includes:

    • Week 1: Roots & Trunk (Body & Context) – Grounding into your physical presence and acknowledging the soil you’re planted in. Body, family, ancestry, place, culture.

    • Week 2: Sap & Breath (Energy & Vitality) – Connecting with your breath and vital energy and discussing boundaries to manage your energy well.

    • Week 3: Leaves & Branches (Thoughts & Emotions) – Caring for yourself well while riding waves of emotion and skillfully shepherding thoughts.

    • Week 4: Inner Rings (Wisdom) – Practicing the “witness” perspective, consider how past “weather patterns” of life have shaped you and added strength to your sense of inner knowing and personal authority.

    • Week 5: Fruit & Seed (Purpose & Essence) – Practice expressing and being witnessed while in the warmth of your own energy. We will share creative expressions (e.g., poems, songs, ideas, art, etc.) that may have emerged throughout the workshop.

    • Week 6: The Forest Floor (Integration & Farewell) – More time for sharing creative emergences. Also, reflecting on continued weaving of soul tending practices into your daily life, and celebrating our forest microcosm community.

This space is held for all who identify as women (ages 27–37) to move from a state of "doing" into a state of sustained being of their authentic nature.

  • Why "Tending the Tree of the Soul"?

We live in a world that feels increasingly intense and uprooted. To stay steady, we need more than just "self-care" — we need to remember our nature.

    The Tree
From the Norse Yggdrasil to the ancient Ashvattha, the "World Tree" is a universal symbol of life. Just like a tree, we are designed to be bridge-builders: rooted deeply in the soil of our lineage and the "wood wide web" of community, while reaching toward the future we are co-creating and the wider mystery of life. When we tend to our "tree," we move from fragility to sturdiness.

    The Soul
Soul is your vital core, your unique perfection, and your inherent purpose. You are an essential part of the Anima Mundi, the soul of the world. When you recognize that you are both an individual masterpiece and a vital thread in the web of existence, you begin to thrive.

    The Practice
By tending the Tree of the Soul, we shift from reacting to the world to actively shaping it. In this group, we gather to reconnect with our roots, nourish our inner vitality, and contribute to the generative, unfolding story of humanity.

  • This is a space for all who identify as women, and who are within the age span of 27-37.

This decade represents a pivotal place in development, in which the pressure to balance personal identify with significant life transitions can lead to uncertainty and burnout - as well as authenticity and inner authority.

A group specifically for women provides a transformative sanctuary to give and receive support around issues specific to womanhood, in the varying forms each woman experiences it.

  • April 23rd - June 4th, 2026 (skipping May 21st for the holiday weekend)

Thursdays, 6:15-7:45 — arrive anytime at or after 6:00; we will begin promptly at 6:15.

5525 E Burnside, Portland — we will gather in a comfortable, ADA-accessible group room within a beautiful converted Victorian house. When the weather is nice we might sit in the garden under a magnolia tree.

  • As this is the very first "tending" of this specific group, I am offering special foundational pricing to reflect our shared journey in rooting this curriculum. These rates are lower than future offerings as a "thank you" for your presence in this initial circle.

This is a trust-based system. Please choose the tier that most honestly reflects your current financial "soil."

    • The Sustainer Rate (Redistributive) | $360 total ($60/session)

      • Choose this if: You comfortably meet your basic needs, have expendable income, or have access to family wealth. This rate "pays it forward" to support a spot for a community member at the lower tier.

    • The Standard Rate (Sustainable) | $270 total ($45/session)

      • Choose this if: You consistently meet your basic needs, though you may need to budget for larger expenses. This rate reflects the foundational cost of clinical time and materials.

    • The Accessible Rate (Supported) | $180 total ($30/session)

      • Choose this if: You frequently stress about meeting basic needs, have significant debt, or lack access to savings. We want you in the forest; please prioritize your own stability. **If this amount would keep you from joining, please let me know. We will find a way.

Payment can be made to @ashleighyoungpsyd on Venmo, or via cash or card.

    A Note on Commitment:
Payment for the full 6-week series is due at registration to ensure group cohesion and commitment. By securing your spot, you are helping to create a stable, consistent "canopy" for the entire group. If the total is a barrier to joining, please reach out—we can arrange a two-part payment plan (half at registration and half by Week 3) to better support your flow.

  • Would you like to be a tree in this forest?

If you are ready to commit to a focused 6-week journey to your inner Self, in the company of others on the same path, please use the contact form below to be in touch.

Because of the focused and intimate nature of this group, I will meet with all prospective group members for a complimentary consultation before commitment to the group. This will give you time to learn more and ask questions. We will consider together whether this group is a good fit for you right now.

Okay, now go find that contact form!

  • Is this group therapy?
While facilitated by a licensed psychologist, this is a therapeutic wellness group focused on personal growth and community. It is not a substitute for clinical treatment or a mental health diagnosis. It is designed to be a nourishing supplement to your existing self-care or individual therapy.

    Who is invited to join?
We welcome all who identify as women ages 27–37. Our small "forest" thrives on the diverse lived experiences, backgrounds, and identities of every member.

What if I’m nervous about sharing in a group?
It is completely natural to feel "exposed" at first. This is a non-performance space. You are invited to share at your own pace, and we honor listening as a vital form of participation. We will collectively agree to group expectations regarding confidentiality and care, to ensure everyone feels safe.

    How does Equity Pricing work?
This group uses a trust-based, tiered model so financial access isn't a barrier. You simply choose the "soil" (tier) that matches your current financial reality. No proof of income is required.

    What is the commitment?
To maintain the stability of our circle, commitment to all 6 weeks is requested. Payment is due in full at registration to secure your spot and ensure group cohesion. If you need a two-part payment plan, please reach out!

What should I bring to the first session?
Just yourself, a journal, and a spirit of curiosity. Together, we will foster a sanctuary where our individual truths can root and our collective strength can unfold.

A Note From Your Facilitator

One of the greatest gifts of my early 30s was joining a women’s group. This circle of seven women continues to be a nourishing part of my root system. Now in the final year of my 30s, I have found this decade to be a profoundly transformative season of growth - a time of stepping into greater responsibility while more deeply becoming who I truly am. I felt inspired to create Tending the Tree of the Soul so that other women rising into their power can find that same like-hearted companionship through the challenges and joys of this potent time of life.

  • Hello, it’s good to meet you here! I am Ashleigh Young, a Licensed Psychologist and a fifth-generation Oregonian with ancestral roots in Hungary, Sweden, Ireland, and Germany. Connecting with my own cultural lineage and family history - the seasons of hardship and the blooms of thriving - has become a taproot that grounds me in our turbulent world.

I find similar nourishment in the natural world - the power of the ocean, the strength of trees, and the flow of rivers - as well as the vast canopy of human wisdom: ancient spiritual traditions, poetry, music, and philosophy. I know these sources of Truth can provide a sense of rootedness in something bigger, as we seek personal healing and a deeper sense of self.

In my private practice, I work with adults on healing, wholeness, and finding meaning. My experience as a group facilitator includes the resonance of community singing and parent circles to the deep work of interpersonal process groups, and the embodied presence I cultivated in yoga teacher training. I notice that group work has a special potency - when we are seen by others, we can more accurately and lovingly see ourselves. Whether in one-to-one or group settings, it is a central part of my soul’s work to facilitate spaces in which others learn to relate to their own inner landscapes with more kindness and depth.

I look forward to tending our roots together.

How surely gravity's law, strong as an ocean current, takes hold of the smallest thing and pulls it toward the heart of the world. Each thing--- each stone, blossom, child--- is held in place. Only we, in our arrogance, push out beyond what we each belong to for some empty freedom. If we surrendered to earth's intelligence we could rise up rooted, like trees. Instead we entangle ourselves in knots of our own making and struggle, lonely and confused. So like children, we begin again to learn from the things, because they are in God's heart; they have never left him. This is what the things can teach us: to fall, patiently to trust our heaviness. Even a bird has to do that before he can fly.
